Main institutional cooperation programmes
The Partnerships for Cooperation, Innovation, and Excellence support international cooperation projects with the aim of enhancing the capacities of the participating entities and developing innovative, sustainable and high quality products that can generate a structural impact at European level. Each of these three areas has its own objectives and characteristics that contribute to different aspects of international development and cooperation within higher education.
Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) actions promote the improvement of the quality of education in third countries. These projects address emerging needs and challenges, such as the impact of economic globalisation and social, economic and environmental inequalities. By improving the quality of education, these projects aim not only to strengthen educational capacities and opportunities, but also to promote equal access to education, thus fostering social development at local and regional level.
Alliances for Innovation aim to enhance cooperation between education, research and emerging professional needs in the field of the knowledge economy and the green economy. These actions promote a rapid transition towards the adoption of new technologies, especially in emerging sectors with great innovation potential, by fostering entrepreneurial mindset and new talents and skills.
This initiative promotes excellence and internationalisation of higher education on a global scale, through highly-qualified master's degree programmes designed, developed and recognised by several European universities and colleges. Through this initiative, the aim is to consolidate a global network of academic institutions offering high-quality and prestigious master's degree programmes, thus promoting internationalisation and educational cooperation on a global scale.
The Erasmus Mundus Design Measures encourage the planning, design, review and evaluation of inter-university master's degree programmes, so that they meet the high quality standards established by the Erasmus Mundus programme. In contrast, Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters consist of the implementation of new inter-university master's degree programmes, of a high academic level and internationally recognised, with the aim of training highly qualified workers with solid international experience.
Jean Monnet Actions in higher education support higher education studies specialised in any field of European Union history, politics and law. The activities promoted aim to foster active European citizenship and to disseminate the fundamental values of the European Union, as well as to spread knowledge about how these policies can influence the economy, rights and daily life of Europeans.
Jean Monnet Chairs are intended to recruit teachers with a high level of expertise in European Union studies to deliver highly specialised teaching, thereby promoting academic excellence and research in the field of European studies. In contrast, Jean Monnet Modules are projects designed for teaching staff to offer courses, seminars, workshops or other academic activities focused on topics related to the European Union.
The actions of the Creative Europe programme aim to protect, enhance and disseminate Europe's cultural and artistic diversity, as well as to boost the competitiveness of the cultural and creative sectors through their digital transformation. At the same time, the actions aim to address, from an artistic perspective, the current problems of European societies, such as social inclusion, the challenges of new technologies and the fight against climate change.
COST Actions are interdisciplinary research networks that bring together researchers and professionals to address relevant topics in their respective fields of research, in collaboration with small and medium-sized companies and public institutions. Open to all areas of science and technology, they provide an inclusive European environment for expanding the cooperation networks of participating organisations. These projects promote international collaboration, knowledge transfer and research advancement, thereby helping to boost innovation and cooperation at European level.
