Medical, accident and repatriation insurance

Medical insurance
Medical insurance
Students on a temporary stay at the UB must have a medical, accident and repatriation insurance that covers the entire duration of their stay at the UB.
- Students from the European Economic Area (European Union countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) who are entitled to social security in their country of origin must apply for a European health insurance card, which is issued by the public health authorities in their country and entitles them to the same health care benefits in Spain.
- Students from countries outside the European Economic Area should find out if there is a medical agreement between Spain and their country's Social Security system. If such an agreement exists, you should contact your country's public health authorities to obtain the corresponding document and thus be entitled to health care benefits in Spain.
- Students who do not fall into any of the above should contract a private health insurance to cover your stay at the University of Barcelona. You should ask your insurer for a document in English, Spanish or Catalan stating that you are covered.
Accident and repatriation cover
Accident and repatriation cover
All students must have insurance covering accidents and repatriation.
This insurance can be contracted individually or by the home institution. You should ask your insurer for a document in English, Spanish or Catalan stating the above-mentioned coverage.
In any case, you have the option of taking out insurance (with the necessary coverage) with the insurance broker with which the UB has signed an agreement: Ferrer & Ojeda Asociados Correduría de Seguros, SL.
When you formalize your arrival at the UB, you must present a copy of your medical, accident and repatriation insurance.
